Monday, February 6th, 2023 -- 5:01 PM

A Marshfield man was sentenced for a shooting in Wood County Court.

On May 30th of last year, the Wood County Sheriff's Department investigated a shooting which took place in the Town of Richfield, Wood County. The Wood County Sheriff's Department and Marshfield Police Department Special Response Team were able to take Jason R. Schultz into custody in connection with the shooting.

The male victim, another Marshfield man, was shot in the pelvic area with a .22 caliber long gun.  During the investigation it was determined that Schultz and the victim were having a disagreement over an air compressor and the hose for the air compressor.

The Wood County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Marshfield Police Department, Wisconsin Rapids Fire and Ambulance, Marshfield Fire and Ambulance and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

During Schultz’s court appearance in December, he pleaded guilty to 1st-degree reckless injury and 2nd degree reckless endangering safety. Several other charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and seven years of extended supervision.
