ANONYMOUS LETTER COULD HOLD KEY IN MURDER INVESTIGATION

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007 -- 11:49 AM

The Marathon County Sheriff's Department hopes the author of a cryptic letter could hold the key to solving an unsolved murder.

On Monday, the department issued a press release requesting additional assistance from the author of an anonymous letter received in February concerning the shooting of Kenneth Juedes.

Juedes was apparently shot at his rural Unity home, just across the Clark County border.

The letter was "cryptically written" and was postmarked February 17th, 2007 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

FBI agents analyzed the letter, and believe the author does have knowledge of the shooting.

The Sheriff's Department would like the author of the letter, or anyone with information on the shooting death of Kenneth Juedes, to contact them at 800-559-4203.

Meanwhile, the Juedes family says they don't believe investigators are taking the information they're giving them very seriously.

The 58-year old Juedes was found shot to death in his home outside of Colby in August 2006.

Detectives have never publicly named a suspect in the case.

According to WSAW TV in Wausau, Ken juedes' son, Noah, says they were never informed of a possible lead in the investigation until Monday and are not impressed with how the investigation has been run, as a whole.

Noah says his father's family and friends have given detectives a lot of information, but it doesn't seem to be of interest to them.
