A Cadott man was arrested after a counterfeit investigation.
According to the Lake Hallie Police Department, on December 28th, around 9am, they were called to the Lake Hallie Walmart after a man reportedly passed four counterfeit $100 bills.
On January 17th, the Lake Hallie Police Department uploaded pictures to Facebook to see if anyone could help identify the suspect. The next day, the Cornell Police Department issued a crime alert looking for a man using fake $100 bills. It was the same man the Lake Hallie Police Department was looking for.
The suspect was identified as 26-year-old James Buchli of Tomah. Buchli had also used fake $100 bills in Tomah and Ladysmith. During a traffic stop on January 23rd, the Lake Hallie Police Department pulled over a vehicle that was seen at Buchli house and Buchli was a passenger. Buchli was arrested and is facing charges of forgery and retail theft.
