Marshfield School Board Approves Putting $99.5 Million Referendum on April 4th Ballot

The Marshfield School Board approved moving forward with their $99.5 million referendum.

The Board first approved the general obligation bonds and then approved moving forward with putting the referendum question on the April 4th ballot. The Board is asking the public to approved a $99,500,000 referendum for the public purpose of paying the cost of a district-wide school building and facility improvement project consisting of:

Construction of additions, including for a secure entrance, career and tech ed space, classrooms, student services, and cafeteria/commons and fitness areas, renovations and capital maintenance, building systems, infrastructure and site improvements at Marshfield High School;

Capital maintenance and building systems improvements at Marshfield Middle School; renovations and building systems, infrastructure, safety and site improvements at the elementary schools; and acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment.

The Board also approved increasing the substitute teacher pay to $130 beginning the 2nd semester and approved a $1,000 AODA mini-grant award supporting the Marshfield Columbus Leadership Alliance.

The Board also approved a $1,000 from the Marshfield Community Foundation for the School Based Mental Health Consortium. This will be used for Spanish Interpreter services for consortium clients. It could also be used to cover the gap in funding from United Way.

The Board also approved the open enrollment designation of spaces and approved the Administrator contracts. The Board also approved several trips including a trip to Milwaukee in February for the Regional Ocean Bowl; a trip to Green Bay in February for the Competitive Robotics Tournament; a trip to the 2023 International Dairy Judging Contest in June; and a trip to New York in June of 2024.

The Board also approved several donations. Grant Elementary received a donation of two violins valued at $750, a guitar valued at $100, and an alto recorder valued at $30 from Virginia Hines.

Lincoln Elementary received a donation of classroom snacks valued at $75 from Cornerstone Community Church; $175 for Mrs. Herkert’s 3rd grade class for a coloring contest from Schierl, Inc.; $150 for student lunch accounts; and $150 for student needs and lunch accounts.

High School Athletics received $3,000 for Girls Basketball transportation from Terry & Allean Frankland; $2,500 for Shot on Goal from Forward Bank; $1,000 for the Boys Basketball program from Don Nikolai Construction & Supply, Inc.

For the Madrigal Performance, they received $100 from the Rotary Club; $100 from the Women’s Guild; and $50 from the Marshfield Public Library. The FFA Program received $40 from WI Farm Technology Days; $180 from Judy Heeg; $250 from Linda Heeg; and $310.00 from Kiwanis Club of Marshfield.

The Board also approved a long list of policy/handbook changes and approved retirements, resignations, and new employees. The Board also recognized a Cross Country Runner that qualified for state and recognized crossing guard for Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Week.
