Marathon County Sheriff's Department Announces Promotion of Captain Millhausen

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department has announced the promotion of Captain William “Bill” Millhausen to the rank of Chief Deputy/Undersheriff of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, effective January 8th.
Chief Deputy Millhausen began his career with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office on February 6, 1998 as a reserve deputy. On November 15, 1999 he was hired as a full-time deputy assigned to the Patrol Division.
In his time with the Sheriff’s Office he has worked as a deputy, detective, lieutenant within the Patrol and Investigations Divisions and for almost six years has served as the captain overseeing the Communications Division.
During his twenty-four years with Marathon County, Chief Deputy Millhausen has served on several special teams including SWAT, Dive Team, Crisis Negotiations, taught on the range as a Firearm's Instructor, and supervised the K9 Unit.
He has also represented the Sheriff’s Office on many committees and work groups over the course of those years. While assigned to the Investigations Division, Chief Deputy Millhausen worked in General Crimes, Sensitive Crimes, Evidence and the Special Investigations Unit.
As the captain of the Communications Division, Bill was instrumental in updating all of the emergency call handling software which will prepare Marathon County to move to the next generation of 911.
This will include advancements in how the community can reach the department in an emergency. Chief Deputy Millhausen also worked to ensure that redundant systems are in place for 911 call handling in the event of a major disaster or damage to our current call center.
Chief Deputy Millhausen’s diverse background, experience managing large projects and systems in addition to the relationships he has fostered over those twenty-four years uniquely qualifies him for this position.
