Wood County Sheriff's Department Welcomes New K9
Monday, December 12th, 2022 -- 11:01 AM
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is welcoming their new K9 Bingo.
He is a four year old German Shepherd mix and is trained in explosive detection, tracking for people, and patrol apprehension. Bingo began his career in the United States Military, and had an early retirement in 2022.
With his early retirement came the opportunity for the Wood County Sheriff’s Department to expand their K-9 division. Handler Sergeant Brandon Christianson was paired with Bingo, and attended the K-9 handler course at Jessiffany Canine Services in Iron Ridge.
On December 2nd, they successfully completed the course and returned to Wood County to begin their patrol duties. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department wants to thank the community and their K9 Foundation-ACACIA for their continued support of the K9 Unit.
This support gave them the opportunity for this dog, something new to the Department and area. There are not many explosive detecting K9's in Central Wisconsin.
