Marshfield Man Enters a Plea for Wood County Shooting

A Marshfield man arrested after a shooting entered a plea in Wood County Court.
On May 30th, the Wood County Sheriff's Department investigated a shooting which took place in the Town of Richfield, Wood County. The Wood County Sheriff's Department and Marshfield Police Department Special Response Team were able to take Jason R. Schultz (Age: 29) into custody in connection with the shooting.
Schultz is being held at the Wood County Jail and charges of First-Degree Reckless Injury and Bail Jumping- Felony are being forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney's Office.
The male victim, who is a 33 year old Marshfield man, was shot in the pelvic area with a .22 caliber long gun. During the investigation it was determined that Schultz and the victim were having a disagreement over an air compressor and the hose for the air compressor.
The Wood County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Marshfield Police Department, Wisconsin Rapids Fire and Ambulance, Marshfield Fire and Ambulance and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
During his court appearance on Wednesday, Schultz pleaded guilty to 1st-degree reckless injury and 2nd degree reckless endangering safety. Several other charges were dismissed and read in. He’s scheduled for sentencing on January 23rd.
