A Wausau man entered a plea in Chippewa County Court for fleeing an officer.
According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, back in September, 20-year-old Chad Myszka was traveling west on Highway 29 in Chippewa County. Authorities received reports that Myszka was possibly armed and suicidal.
Authorities spotted Myszka’s vehicle near Highway 29 and County Highway XX. Authorities initiated a chase, but ended it on County Highway T due to the high speeds. Later, authorities received a report of a three-vehicle crash on Highway 29 near 90th Street.
It was determined that Myszka was involved. He then ran from the scene and headed into a corn field. A shelter-in-place order was initiated for the Town of Wheaton, the area of the crash. Finally, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department apprehended Myszka and was taken to the hospital.
During his plea hearing, Myszka was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, vehicle operator flee/elude an officer, 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety, hit and run involving injury. He’s scheduled for sentencing on January 30th.
