The 2020-22 Next Generation 9-1-1 Biennial Report is now available online.
The report was produced by the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Office of Emergency Communications in consultation with the 9-1-1 Subcommittee and provides an update on the status of NG9-1-1 implementation, operation, and maintenance in Wisconsin.
The NG9-1-1 Biennial Report is due to the Governor and State Legislature on November 1 of every even numbered year. This biennial report covers the reporting period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022.
DMA executed a contract with AT&T for a statewide Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet). 34 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) signed up for the AT&T ESInet service and began the data collection process.
Three PSAPs began implementing NG9-1-1 with an alternative ESInet provider. DMA worked with the Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA) and Geo-Comm, Inc. to publish the Wisconsin NG9-1-1 GIS data standard and implementation plan.
Administrative rules were adopted for a competitive PSAP grant program that included basic training and service standards for PSAPs based on recommendations from the 9-1-1 Subcommittee. Legislation was passed that established a competitive GIS grant program for NG9-1-1.
DMA administered $2.9 million in federal 9-1-1 grant funding and over 96% of the funds were spent during the reporting period. Funding was allocated and the procurement process was started for a NG9-1-1 GIS data management service.
