Owen-Withee Elementary Students Collect Items for Every Third Saturday
Wednesday, December 7th, 2022 -- 1:01 PM
In the month of November, the Owen-Withee Elementary School helped a community organization from the twin cities called “Every Third Saturday”, an organization that helps veterans in need.
Thanks to the Owen-Withee Elementary staff and students, they collected 801 personal care items such as lotions, soaps, shampoos, conditioner, chapstick, toothbrushes, and deodorant. Now some homeless veterans will have some of these items.
When the Elementary Student Council collected items, grade levels had a little competition to see who could raise the most. And the grade level that won with a total of 281 personal care products is 5th Grade. They celebrated with a Donut Party on Friday, December 2nd.
The student council is going to continue to have lots to do. Now, through the next two weeks of December, the Owen-Withee students will be working on a service learning project. Students will be creating their own Christmas ornament to give to one of the 171 Health Care Center residents.
They will also be decorating envelopes that they will put the ornament into. They hope this will bring up everyone’s spirits.
