Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006 -- 8:26 AM
Last month we reported - for the first time in a long time - Clark County had fallen below the 1,000 dairy herd mark for the month of July. That didn?t last long. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture announced this week Clark County added one more herd and now has exactly 1,000 herds.
Meanwhile, there were 14,572 herds milking throughout the state during the month of August--about 25 less than July. Compared to last year at this time, about 471 herds either sold out or merged with other operations.
