Staying Safe and Sober on Thanksgiving Eve
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 -- 9:01 AM
(Mike Leischner, WRN/WSAU) The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is traditionally the busiest night of the year for Wisconsin bars and taverns.
For many it's a night to reconnect with old friends before spending tomorrow with their family. And Deputy Brad Tatro with the Marathon County Sheriff's Office says if that is your plan, make sure you know how you're getting home safely before ordering your first round. “If your plan is to Uber or Lyft, or any other rideshare programs, have it figured out before you go. That's gonna be your best bet on getting home safely.”
Deputy Brad Tatro with the Marathon County Sheriff's Office says his officers will be on the lookout for signs of impaired driving all night. “Put emphasis on . . . watching traffic and making sure that . . . everyone's proceeding safely.”
And he says if need be, get the bartender involved on your plan as well. Let them know who the designated driver is so they know not to serve that person alcohol.
