TOURISM COMMITTEE WANTS CRAFTERS, ARTISANS
Friday, August 18th, 2006 -- 9:55 AM
Attention Clark County Artisans and Crafters? The Clark County Tourism Committee wants you.Next Tuesday, August 22nd, the committee is holding an open house at the Christine Center near Willard.
?Whether you?re a church group that might be making something, or whether you?re a homemaker that might make something, we?d like to meet you,? says committee member Tom Kahn.
The goal is to get crafters and artisans to combine forces to help sell their products. One of the first steps is advertising.
?For a small fee? maybe $25-$30, we?d put you in the Visitor?s Guide where we?d have your name and address, what kind of product you make,? Kahn says. ?On a foldout map, we?d denote where you are so anyone coming into the county could stop by your place and purchase a good from you and increase your business.?
The meeting on Tuesday will run from 5:30 to 7:30 and will include food and music. Kahn says there will be a good deal of brainstorming.
?We want to get a handle on what kind of products we have in the county. If you drive down any country road, you can usually see something that someone is making ? we want to bring those people together as a major force for tourism in the county,? Kahn says.
?We look at that as one more niche that we have to offer that cities don?t have.?
The Christine Center is located 2 miles south of Willard. If you?d like more information, you can call the Clark County Economic Development Corporation at 267-3205.
