Check 511wi.gov for Winter Road Conditions

(Bob Hague, WRN) Winter is here with the first accumulating snow across Wisconsin’s roads.

And for motorists, there’s a great resource available to view expanded and improved winter road conditions. “511-wi-dot-gov, which shows what road conditions are currently like on a number of major routes throughout the state. You can check in on the traffic cameras as well to see what things look like whatever part of the state you might be traveling to.”

Beckett with ReadyWisconsin says drivers should visit 511-wi-dot-gov for up-to-date road conditions. “It's always important to know not just you know what local road conditions are like locally but what it looks like with where your final destination is going to be and making sure that you're giving yourself plenty of time to reach that destination and that you're potentially changing travel plans if it might be too dangerous to drive.”

Beckett also advises having an emergency kit in your vehicle if you plan to travel any distance.
