Wisconsin Cheese Factories Made More Product in September

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin cheese factories made more product during the month of September when compared to the previous year.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the latest dairy product summary from the USDA, the state produced 287.1 million pounds of cheese during the month.

That was a slight 0.2 percent increase from last year, but 0.4 percent lower than this past August, which had more days on the calendar. Prior to this point, year-to-year output for state dairy products have dropped every month since February.

Nationally, about 1.14 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in September. That was a slight 0.4 percent increase from 2021, but 1.0 percent less compared to the amount manufactured during the previous month.

Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 26.5 million pounds, which was up 23.3 percent from last year, and 6.7 percent higher compared to last month.
