Granton Selected to Receive Grant to Purchase Electric School Buses

The EPA announced that the grant application submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2022 Clean School Bus (CSB) Rebates for THE LION ELECTRIC CO USA INC on behalf of Granton Area School District has been selected for funding.

$1,885,000 has been reserved for use in this program to replace 5 buses. These reserved funds include $1,785,000 for 5 new electric buses, and $100,000 for eligible charging infrastructure. The replacement buses must serve Granton Area School District located at 217 N. Main St Granton, WI 54436 for at least 5 years from the time of delivery.

District Administrator, James Kuchta stated, “This is a great opportunity for the Granton Area School District. Our district is a small rural community that can promote the Clean School Bus Rebate program for rural districts across Wisconsin, the Midwest and the US. Our school board will hold a special board meeting to consider using other funds available to build a bus building for charging and storing the buses which would in-turn free up space for other unique learning opportunities for our students.”
