Tuesday, July 25th, 2006 -- 10:52 AM
A village of Trempealeau Catholic priest might be charged with drunken driving after an accident near Galesville.Police say The Rev. Robert J. Wagner, 75, left Wasson's Supper Club and turned onto state Highway 54/93 and into the path of another vehicle Saturday night.
The officer at the scene believed Wagner was drunk and a blood test will be back in a few days.
Wagner is a priest at St. Batholomew Catholic Church. This isn?t his only run-in with the law.
On March 22, a Trempealeau County Sheriff?s deputy cited Wagner with drunken driving, inattentive driving and driving over the centerline, and he pleaded guilty. The court revoked his license for six months and fined him.
In 2003, Wagner was convicted of hit-and-run in the village of Trempealeau, but a drunken driving charge was dismissed.
From 2001 through 2005, Wagner was convicted of at least seven driving violations in western Wisconsin, court records showed.
