(Bob Hague, WRN) Senator Ron Johnson has paid a law firm to assist with a possible recount effort.
NBC News reports that Wisconsin's Republican US senator, who's in a close race against Democratic Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, has paid a little over 20-thiusand dollars in recent months to the Troupis Law Office in Cross Plains.
That's according to financial disclosures filed with the Federal Elections Commission. James Troupis is the firm's principal, and he allegedly played a role in a plan to overturn the 2020 election results through the use of fake electors.
Troupis also lead former President Donald Trump's unsuccessful recount efforts in Wisconsin. NBC was unable to reach Troupis for comment on Monday, and a spokesman for Johnson’s campaign said, “We see no reason to participate in any way in another smear.”
