BUSY SKIES EXPECTED

The skies over most of our listening area might be a bit busier for the next few days.Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center is hosting ?Patriot 2006,? the National Guard?s premier training exercise. Patriot 2006 is a large-scale exercise integrating U.S. Army and Air Force units, as well as units from Canada, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands in a joint training environment.
Aircraft and personnel from throughout the United States will be deployed to either Volk Field or Fort McCoy in support of the various training activities, while some units will fly missions from their home stations.
The flying portion of the exercise will occur in Volk Field airspace until July 29.
The aircrafts will be flying in an area between Eau Claire, Waupaca, Randolph, Wisconsin Dells, Tomah, Sparta, and back to Eau Claire. Aircraft that may be seen in the skies above central Wisconsin include: A-10, F-16, CF-18 fighters; UH-60, CH-47, CH-146 helicopters; and C-130 and C-17 transports.
