Central Wisconsin Trucker Delivers Supplies to Florida

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Central Wisconsin trucker is on his way back after bringing a 53-foot trailer full of supplies to the Fort Meyers area following Hurricane Ian.
Greg Baer says he brought anything and everything that didn't require refrigeration. "Food, clothing, handtools, huge donations of dog food, water, juices."
He says it's all going for a good cause, as many of the residents are left with nothing. "They have nothing. Everything is gone. They don't even have the basics, forks, knives, cups. They have nothing. It's just gone."
He says despite the piles of debris everyone he met had a smile on their face and was ready to help. "They were at ground zero. The garbage was piled six feet high all around the truck where I delivered. But everybody pitched in. There had to be thirty or more people there. But the organization was amazing."
He says out of all the trips he's made with his truck, this is one of his favorites. "Very appreciative people on the other end. They thanked me. It was great. It was well worth the ride."
Baer says like so many other good ideas this one was hatched over a few beers and a desire to help neighbors, he expects to be back in Wisconsin by Thursday.
