DNR Releases Annual Air Quality Trends Report
Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 -- 10:45 AM
(Bob Hague, WRN) The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources released its annual Air Quality Trends Report on Tuesday.
The annual report from the DNR includes monitoring data through 2021 for pollutants regulated under the Clean Air Act. Those include ground level ozone, particle pollution, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide.
Highlights include reductions of sulfur dioxide in an area near Rhinelander due to new emissions control measures, and that reduction means the entire state now meets the EPA sulfur dioxide standard.
New this year the DNR has an interactive story map which illustrates air quality trends for each pollutant over the last 20 years.
