The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is holding a virtual public involvement meeting to obtain input on a pavement replacement project proposed in Clark County on WIS 98 from WIS 73 in the town of Eaton east to Helm Street in Loyal.
The public is invited to go to the project website, review a presentation and submit comments to project staff. Materials: Go to https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/projects/by-region/nw/wis98clark/default.aspx. Comments, provide by Oct. 21, 2022, by Email to [email protected] or by Mail to Wisconsin Department of Transportation, 718 W. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701, Attn.: Nathan Ulness (WIS 98, Clark County) The pavement and the culverts on this segment of WIS 98 are showing signs of deterioration. To address this, WisDOT is proposing to: Replace existing concrete pavement, base material and geo-grid in poor soil areas; Make joint and centerline repairs where necessary; Clean or repair culverts to improve drainage; and replace pavement markings.
During construction, WIS 98 will remain open to traffic during most of the work, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging operations. For concrete replacement in high distress areas, WIS 98 will be open to single-lane traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Access for emergency services and property owners will be maintained. Construction is scheduled for 2026, but the work could be advanced to 2025 if funding becomes available.
