Minnesota Attorney General Sues Mills Fleet Farm Over Gun Sales
Thursday, October 6th, 2022 -- 8:00 AM
(Bill Werner, MNN) Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is suing Appleton based Mills Fleet Farm, accusing the retailer of repeatedly selling guns to so-called "straw purchasers."
Ellison says a gun Fleet Farm sold to Jerome Horton was used in an October 2021 shooting at a Saint Paul bar that left one dead and 14 wounded. “They sold Horton eight nine-millimeter semiautomatic pistols in one week. On other occasions Fleet Farm made multiple sales to Horton at the same time and at the same location within five business days.”
Ellison says there were many red flags that the man was a straw purchaser. In a statement, Fleet Farm said it complies with all applicable gun laws, and that Ellison filed the suit without ever contacting the company.
