Wildwood Park and Zoo is excited to announce the newest additions.

On September 21st, they welcomed two new does to their white-tail deer herd. A five-year-old doe “Brownie” and a 4-month-old fawn “Sundae” joined their existing herd of five. The pair has settled in quickly and are often the first to greet the zookeepers.

The deer came to the zoo from Voight’s Deer Farm in Auburndale. Their genetic breeding program is one of the best in the state and are well known for producing trophy class bucks.

As deer are most often active at dawn and dusk (known as crepuscular), those are the best times to spot the herd, including the newest additions. They are becoming more active in the cooler weather and can be seen more easily this time of year.

They would like to thank the Zoological Society for sponsoring the acquisition of “Brownie” and Voight’s Deer Farm for donating “Sundae” to Wildwood Park and Zoo. If you would like to keep up-to-date with the Wildwood Park and Zoo news, be sure to check the City website and Facebook page.

In addition to keeping up with the animals, you can learn more about the special events, new exhibits and other happenings. As always, the staff and volunteers at Wildwood Park and Zoo thank you for your past and future support and patronage.
