Simplicity Credit Union in Neillsville Moving to New Location
Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 -- 11:01 AM
Simplicity Credit Union in Neillsville will be moving to a new location down the street.
I spoke with Nick Faber, President and CEO of Simplicity and he discussed the new location and how the move came to be in more detail.
Riley: "Where is the new location and what brought about the decision to move?"
Nick: "The new location is going to be on the northwest corner of Highway 73 and Highway 10. It's going to be inbetween Grand and Clay Street. We'll have some driveways off each one of those."
"As we've looked at our operations and continue to analyze our opeartions in each one of our markets, one of the things we noticed within our Neillsville Branch is that we've outgrown that space quickly."
"The space that we have right now, when we made the move a couple years ago to come to Neillsville, we really did a great job with the building location and the space that we had at that time."
"Also, the new opportunity is going provide a little bit larger lobby. Some more space for lending teams. A drivethru, which is something that members have been asking for for a little while now. It will give members a lot more accessibility, approved accessibility and, hopefully, provide a better member experience for members in that area."
Riley: "What kind of approvals did Simplicity need to get before the project could move forward?"
Nick: "We did work with our regulators to make sure that we were meeting the requirements. Very seamless process there. The property we were looking at was zoned residential. That was really the big one, working to rezone that to commercial."
"Extremely thankful to the City of Neillsville for seeing the opportunity there. Outside of those, it was really working internally. Working with our managment team, working with our board and making sure we're doing what we think is best for our entire membership. Making sure we're good stweards of the rescourses and we saw a great opportunity here."
Riley: "There is a building sitting at the location. Does Simplicity plan on using it or will they start from scratch?"
Nick: "We will be building a new building. The building that's there, we have had some inquiries on that. It's a very nice place and we'd like to see that to be able to be used. Again, we've had some people reach out."
"Currently working through the process to see if we can get that moved if anyone has any interest. So, we have had a couple people reach out. We're working our way through what that looks like, what that process looks like, and the interested parties running the associated cost with it."
"It's a process and certainly not something that we want to rush, nor do we want to rush it for the folks that have some interest. Same thing with the garage that's on that residential property."
"We've had some folks, some community members, potentially reach out with some interest on that. Those buildings we are trying to do something. But we will be building a brand new building and very excited about what that will bring forward for us."
Riley: "Any discussion on what will be done with Simplicity's old location?"
Nick: "We do have a potential buyer for the old location. We'll continue to operate out of the old location until the new building is built, at which point, we'll move everything over. But we do have a potential buyer and we're excited about the opportunities for that individual as well."
Riley: "Anything you'd like to add?"
Nick: "We're extremely excited about the future in Neillsville. I certainly hope this shows that we're committed and invested in the community and the surrounding communities. Just very excited about what opportunities will be available moving forward."
Nick said Simplicity is hoping to prepare the site yet this year so they are ready to break ground in spring. The plan at this point is to be done and in the building next fall. However, he did say that will certainly depend on the building process and variables not in their control.
