Neillsville Students to Participate in International Walk to School Day
Saturday, September 10th, 2022 -- 10:00 AM
-On Wednesday, October 5th, Neillsville students will be joining schools from around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Day.
Volunteers will be walking students to school from all over the city of Neillsville. Students and parents are encouraged to participate in Walk to School Day. Buses will continue to run their routes as usual. In the United States, Walk to School Day is expected to be celebrated by hundreds of participating schools.
Walkers from the U.S. will join children and adults in more than 40 other countries from around the world. Walk to School events emphasize the importance of creating safer routes for walking and bicycling. They also promote physical activity among children and concern for the environment.
Students are encouraged to show their school spirit and wear red. Longer walking routes will start at approximately 7:30am and shorter routes at 7:40am. Please see the list of walking routes on the back of this sheet. Volunteers can be identified by the “Walk to School” signs they will be holding.
This event is being organized by Neillsville School District and the Neillsville Optimist Club. Supporting organizations include the Clark County Health Department and Clark County Eat Right Be Fit Coalition.
IN THE EVENT OF LIGHTENING, HEAVY RAIN, OR STRONG WINDS, WALK TO SCHOOL DAY WILL BE CANCELED. For additional information, please call Judy Morrow at 715-743-2885.
