(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin cheese factories manufactured less product during the month of July when compared to the previous year, marking the fifth straight month that dairy product output has declined.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the latest production summary from the USDA, which stated the state produced 289.6 million pounds of cheese during the month.

That was 1.2 percent less than last year, but a slight 0.3 percent increase from this past June, which had less days on the calendar. Nationally, about 1.16 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in June.

That was a 1.1 percent increase from 2021, and 0.5 percent more compared to the amount manufactured during the previous month. Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 25.7 million pounds, which was up 3.8 percent from both last year and last month.
