Neillsville School Board Approves 2022-23 Tax Levy at Annual Meeting

The Neillsville School Board held their Annual Meeting.
After a presentation by Neillsville District Administrator John Gaier, a tax levy of $3,643,265 was recommended. The levy was unanimously approved by the board and citizens present.
The Board also approved to set board salaries and per diems at the current rate and to authorize reimbursement for expenses and approved allowing the Board be authorized to sell or otherwise dispose of all unused, outdated or obsolete supplies, equipment and materials.
They also approved to authorize the sale of any property belonging to or not needed by the School District of Neillsville; approved to authorize temporary borrowing for cash flow purposes; and approved to set the 2023 Annual Meeting date for August 28th at 7pm.
A regular Board meeting was also held. The Board approved the purchase of a generator from Mark Lisenby in the amount of $5,000 as presented and approved the CESA 10 proposal to coordinate a referendum strategy for capital projects as presented.
They also approved the donation of 15 sets of earphones from the women of Zion Lutheran Pine Valley Church as presented and approved a monetary donation from JBC Screenprinting for new goal post pads for the football field as presented.
They also approved a monetary donation from Gross Motors for new goal post pads for the football field as presented and approved a monetary donation from IMART-Marathon for new goal post pads for the football field as presented.
In employment matters, the Board approved the resignation of Kristine Anderson from her teaching assistant position, Amber Kallian from her teaching assistant position, and Mike McDonald from his bus driving position.
They also approved the letter of resignation from Nate McDonald from his assistant football coaching position as presented and the letter of resignation from Chelsea Opelt from her middle school student council advisor position as presented.
The Board also approved the hiring of Angela McIntyre for a teaching assistant position as presented, Brianna Hogan for the Food Service Director position as presented, and Kim Swita for the high school special education teaching position as presented.
They also approved the Memorandum of Understanding for Connie McDonald as presented, and approved the hiring of Michael Gaier for the assistant football coaching position as presented.
Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on a letter to district families regarding speech and language services; an adjustment to food service meal prices; a list of districts in WASB Region 5; and an announcement regarding the state's budget surplus.
