A Wausau teen is being held on a $250,000 cash bond after shooting at a man in a hotel parking lot.
According to court records, police were called to the Motel 6 on Huntington Drive in Wisconsin Rapids this past Saturday. When they arrived, they found a man facedown on the ground with a significant amount of blood coming from a wound on his head. Police determined the victim had been shot in the head. 17-year-old Christopher Stevens, of Wausau, stated that he and the victim had gotten into an altercation. He stated he hadn’t intended to hit the victim when he fired the gun, he was just trying to protect himself and wanted to scare him. Video surveillance from the hotel showed Stevens pointing the gun at the victims head.
The victim did survive the incident. Stevens is being charged with attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide. He made his initial appearance in Wood County Court on Wednesday. He’s being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
