Food Banks in Wisconsin Receive Donation From Alliant Energy

Food banks across Iowa and Wisconsin will be receiving nearly 50,000 meals after Alliant Energy and its customers teamed up to support local families in need.
Alliant Energy pledged to donate three meals for every customer that signed up for My Account, the company’s online account management tool, between May and July 2022.
With some pandemic-related support slowing and inflation hitting a record high in June, many food banks are struggling to keep up with the needs of the food pantries they support.
“The way that Alliant Energy and their customers engage in their communities is outstanding, especially through their ongoing support of our strategic goals of equitable food access and nutrition security,” said Michelle Orge, President and CEO of Second Harvest Foodbank of Wisconsin. “Alliant Energy is a strong and steady collaborator in our work to end hunger in southwestern Wisconsin, and we are deeply grateful for this gift."
An estimated 1 in 14 people in Wisconsin are facing hunger, with rural communities struggling at a higher rate, according to a recent report from Iowa State University. Nearly 16,000 customers enrolled in My Account during the campaign window, resulting in nearly 50,000 meals being donated to local food banks in Iowa and Wisconsin.
These included HACAP Food Reservoir, Food Bank of Iowa, River Bend Food Bank, Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Second Harvest Foodbank and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
