Representative Rozar Receives 2022 "Champion of Economic Development" Award

Sunday, August 7th, 2022 -- 9:01 AM

The Wisconsin Economic Development Association recently presented State Representative Donna Rozar, of Marshfield, with the organization’s 2022 “Champion of Economic Development” legislative award for her leadership on legislative initiatives to drive economic growth and prosperity in Wisconsin.

The award was presented at a local business in Marshfield. “Representative Rozar understands the importance of forward-thinking economic development policies to help grow the Wisconsin economy, and even as a freshmen legislator, exhibited great leadership on legislation to help address our economic challenges,” said Michael Welsh, WEDA V.P. of Legislative Affairs.

“We greatly appreciated her efforts during the 2021-22 session to support and advance key initiatives, including a proposal to alleviate the state’s workforce shortage crisis and legislation to encourage local redevelopment projects.”

Rep. Rozar earned the “Champion of Economic Development” designation for her critical work on a wide range of legislation to grow the state’s economy, including a critical veteran talent attraction proposal and a bill signed into law giving local communities more effective tools to redevelop blighted properties.

The “Champion of Economic Development” award is presented at the end of each legislative session to state lawmakers who demonstrate extraordinary support for important economic development policies.

This year WEDA is presenting the award to 20 state lawmakers who exhibited an exceptional commitment to growing Wisconsin’s economy based on several factors, including voting record, sponsorship of legislation, and responsiveness to critical economic development issues.\

Rozar, who was first elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2020, represents the 69th Assembly District, which includes portions of Clark, Marathon, and Wood Counties, including the City of Marshfield.

She serves as the Vice-Chair of the Assembly Small Business Development Committee and sits on the Jobs and the Economy Committee and the Workforce Development Committee. The Wisconsin Economic Development Association, founded in 1975, is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to growing Wisconsin’s economy.

Driven by the needs of our members, we represent the economic development interests of both the private and public sectors through professional development, best practices, and advocacy.
