Thursday, August 4th, 2022 -- 8:01 AM
The North Wausau Fire Department is receiving a grant from the State of Wisconsin.
Governor Tony Evers announced the investment Wednesday morning. The Department will be receiving $33,000 of the $8 million that will be split to other Departments. These funds are coming from the American Rescue Plan. It will also help EMS Services in Wausau.
The Department is short staffed, so this money comes at an opportune time. The Department has an average of 19.8 calls per day and is expecting 6,800-7,000 calls by the end of the year. Compared to last year, this is a 3%-5% increase. They hit almost 6,500 calls last year.
