The forecast is calling for heat and humidity over the next several days.

The Clark County Emergency Management Department reminds you to stay cool and safe during these times of high heat. You should drink plenty of fluids, stay inside during the midday heat, watch for heat cramps, heat exhaustion, & heat stroke, and never leave kids or pets in a car. They also remind you to be aware of the signs and differences of heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

If you’re suffering from heat exhaustion, you may feel faint or dizzy, have excessive sweating, have cool/pale/clammy skin, experience nausea or vomiting, have a rapid or weak pulse, and experience muscle cramps. If you’re suffering from any of these, you should get to a cooler or air conditioned place; drink water; and take a cold shower or use a cold compresse.

If you’re suffering from heat stroke, you may have a throbbing headache, there will be NO sweating, your body temp may be over 103 degrees with red/hot/dry skin, you may experience nausea or vomiting, a rapid or strong pulse, and you could lose consciousness. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should call 911 and take immediate action to cool yourself down.
