CHIPS Bill Passes House Without Support from Wisconsin Republicans

(Bob Hague, WRN) In a win for the Biden administration, the House on Thursday passed a bill to encourage U.S. semiconductor chip manufacturing.
It’s a key industry for economic and national security. The 280 billion dollar CHIPS and Science Act passed 243-187 with twenty-four Republicans voting for it. The bill would subsidize domestic semiconductor manufacturing and invest in science and technology innovation.
No Wisconsin Republicans supported it. Citing security concerns, Green Bay congressman Mike Gallagher released a statement in which he said Congress should have passed legislation that is “laser focused on the challenge we face from the Chinese Communist Party.”
