THE AMAZING SHRINKING BOARD, PART II?
Wednesday, June 14th, 2006 -- 1:51 PM
Would Clark County be better served with a smaller Board of Supervisors? That question will likely be put to the 29 supervisors themselves.
This week?s Clark County Press reports a county resident, Peter Hellios of Granton, approached the Executive Committee last week recommending the Board reduce their size. He said residents could still be well-served by 15-21 supervisors and the streamlined board wouldn?t cost as much to operate.
Corporation Counsel Frank Vasquez was directed to draft a resolution to reduce the County Board that will be reviewed by the Executive Committee during their July 5th meeting.
The Press reports Clark County has 'Wisconsin's' 28th largest board relative to population.
Neighboring Wood County has pushed off action on a resolution that would cut their size from 38 to 19. A referendum on the issue will go to voters in November.
