A longtime Clark County business broke ground Friday for its new plant in neighboring Marathon County.Decorator Industries of Abbotsfrod broke ground for a 32-thousand square-foot manufacturing facility on Abby?s east side, just a few blocks from the Clark-Marathon county line. General Manager Dan Hannula (Han-uh-lah) says the firm will nearly double its size with the new facility, chich he said could someday be expanded to 50-thousand square feet.
?Right now we have about 58 employees, we?ll expand to about 70,? Hannula says. ?We plan on expanding our division.?
Decorator Industries makes interior furnishings like draperies, curtains, bedspreads, comforters and pillow-cushions ? mainly for the hotel industry.
Hannula, who?s been with the company since 1976, says his firm also services the manufactured-housing and recreational-vehicle industries.
The Clark County Economic Development Corporation hosted the Friday morning groundbreaking. Director Sheila Nyberg says it was the first of many exciting announced for Clark County?s economy this year.
?We have three different projections that are ready to be announced. We need to make sure we celebrate the wonderful things happening. We should have two more groundbreakings by the end of June,? Nyberg says.
As for the decorator industries, Hannula says he hopes to be using the new plant by November 1st.
