Black River Falls Chamber of Commerce Announces Recipients of Fern Helbling Scholarships

Each year the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce awards the Fern Helbling Scholarships.

Fern Helbling was a local registered nurse who passed away December 21, 1999. It was her wish that the interest earned from part of her inheritance be used to benefit local scholars.

This year, two $2,000 scholarships were awarded in the Women’s Scholarship category. The Fern Helbling Women’s Scholarship is awarded to women 25 years of age or older and enrolled in a two or four-year college and currently taking at least six credits.

The first recipient selected for the 2022 Women’s Scholarship was Tena Quackenbush of Black River Falls. Tena is enrolled at Western Technical College and is pursuing a degree in Nursing.

The second recipient selected for the 2022 Women’s Scholarship was Erin Rodenberg of Black River Falls. Erin is enrolled at University of Western States pursuing a Master’s Degree in Sport and Performance Psychology.
