Wisconsin Attorney General Says He Will Work to Ensure Safe, Legal Abortions in the State

(Raymond Neupert, WRN) Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul says he'll continue to work to ensure safe and legal abortions in Wisconsin despite a historical ban being in place.
Kaul tells Capital City Sunday he's urging county DAs and police departments not to prosecute these cases. "Using those resources to investigate abortions rather than serious crimes, like homicides, and sexual assault and drug trafficking, I think is a huge misuse of resources."
Kaul tells Capital City Sunday there are conflicting laws on whether or not it's legal to perform an abortion to save a mother's life. "It can't be simultaneously legal and illegal to have an abortion to protect the health of the mother. And so we've got a strong argument on the law here. And ultimately, the court will decide."
Kaul says there's bound to be a legal challenge if the old law is ever enforced. Kaul says his office will refuse to prosecute cases.
