DAIRYLAND TO PURCHASE LANDFILL POWER

Dairyland Power Cooperative in La Crosse said today (Wednesday) it will purchase electricity from two new landfill gas-to-energy generating plants owned by Waste Management Inc.The generating plants are at Timberline Trail Landfill near Bruce, and the Central Disposal Landfill near Lake Mills, Iowa. Both came online in spring. Methane gas produced by the landfills is used to generate energy.
The 3.2 megawatt Timberline Trail facility can power 2,700 homes while the 4.8 megawatt Central Disposal site can power 4,000 homes.
Dairyland provides wholesale electricity to 25 member distribution cooperatives and 19 municipal utilities.
