State Consumer Protection Officials Warn of Lottery Scam
Monday, June 27th, 2022 -- 8:04 AM
(Bob Hague, WRN) The latest scam messages claim to be a lottery winner offering up free winnings out of the goodness of their heart.
State Consumer Protection director Michael Domke says don't fall for it. "That's right. Delete it, block it, don't open it." Domke says the scammers are just trying to trick you into giving them something.
"Depending on the scam and what their angle is, you never know if they're going to be looking for someone to send money, if they're going to be looking for personal identifying information."
If it sounds too good to be true, and this really is too good to be true, just delete the message or block the email.
