The man involved in a pursuit in Clark and Chippewa Counties has been identified.
Just before Noon on Monday, the Lake Hallie Police Department reported it was involved in a pursuit of a white Chrysler 300 stolen vehicle from Clark County. The report stated the vehicle had been driving down Highway 29 erratically.
The pursuit exited Highway 53 and started toward Chippewa Falls on W. River St. The Chippewa Falls Police Department deployed Stop Sticks in an attempt to stop the pursuit and prevent the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Ryan Szydel from Wausau, from entering the city.
The Stop Sticks were successful and the Szydel vehicle stopped on Wagner St. and the driver fled from the vehicle. As officers searched for the Szydel, they received tips about a man running through yards and alleyways matching the description of the driver.
Szydel later stole a bicycle. He was located on foot a short time later and safely taken into custody. The bicycle was located and returned to the owner. Due to the extreme heat, Szydel was provided medical attention before being taken to jail for numerous offenses.
