93rd Wisconsin FFA Convention; Loyal Student Named to State Officer Team

Friday, June 17th, 2022 -- 12:00 PM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) The 'Stars Over Wisconsin' shined brightly on Wednesday night in Madison as four FFA members were recognized with the highest awards a student can win at the state-level during the 93rd Wisconsin FFA Convention.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the Star Farmer award went to Brayden Peter of the Howards Grove FFA; Wisconsin's Star in Agricultural Placement award winner was Luke Sprecher from the Sauk Prairie chapter; Wyatt Gotham, New Auburn FFA, is the Star in Agriscience; and Cameron Pokorny, Waupun FFA, was the Star in Agribusiness recipient.

Another 331 members walked across the stage to receive their State FFA Degrees. Many other students were recognized as scholarship winners. Chapter honors went to the Weyauwega-Fremont FFA, which was named the winner of the Food For America award.

This year's FFA Hall of Fame Inductees included Carlton Austin, Ken & late-Victoria Harter, Allan Herrman, late-Jeff Hicken, and Mark Zimmerman. VIP Citations were presented to Janet Schneider and Mark Zidon.

Terry Bernick, Roger King, John Deere FFA Alumni and Supporters, and CHS Foundation earned Distinguished Service Awards. And 20 other adult supporters were granted honorary membership. But the award winners weren't the only ones jumping for joy.

Convention delegates elected new state officers, who began their year of service on Thursday. They are Isaac Hopke, Spooner; Heidi Strey, Osseo-Fairchild; Kendra Goplin, Whitehall; Jeremiah Ihm, Lancaster; Rhylie Gough, Albany; Cole Hicken, Waupun; Devani Hinkelmann, Loyal; Brooke Casey, New London; Evan Mennen, Bay Port; and Mary Schrieber, East Troy.

State FFA President Ben Styer and his officer team hung up their FFA jackets one last time on Thursday morning before installing the 2022-23 officers, with the exception of one member from this year's group who will be named the new state president.

The 93rd Wisconsin FFA Convention wraps-up on Thursday with the naming of the state's top chapter.
