EPA's PFAS Standards Lower Than Wisconsin's

(Bob Hague, WRN) The federal government’s new recommendations for “forever chemicals” are much lower than Wisconsin’s new standards.
Scott Laeser, Water Program Director for Clean Wisconsin, says that’s unfortunate. “It drives home, the risks that exposure to these chemicals poses to people and the importance of getting them out of our drinking water.”
However the new Wisconsin DNR PFAs standards will mean much more testing of drinking water. ”And that is probably the most important part of these new standards going into effect that they will require testing for all municipal water sources.”
Laeser continued, “The science on these types of chemicals and the health risks they pose is constantly evolving. And so this was not surprising news.” But the good news is that they will require testing for the “forever chemicals” by all muncipal water sources. “We believe that mandatory testing absolutely an order. And we believe that it was in order sooner than this, but we're glad it's here.”
PFAs compounds have been found in numerous Wisconsin communities over the last several years.
