Clark County District Attorney Releases Statement Regarding Conviction of Man Involved in Local Woman's Disappearance

On June 10th, a Clark County Jury convicted Jesus Contreras Perez of First Degree Intentional Homicide, Domestic Abuse– Party to a Crime, Hiding a Corpse – Party to a Crime, and Stalking causing Bodily Harm – Domestic Abuse, after a five-day jury trial before the Honorable Daniel S. Diehn.

Cassandra Ayon was last reported seen alive in the early morning on October 3, 2020. The evidence at trial showed that Contreras Perez stalked her using multiple cell phones. Further, on multiple occasions Contreras Perez threatened to kill Cassandra Ayon and make her disappear.

Evidence showed that Mr. Contreras Perez fled the area after a Marathon County Deputy went to his residence to see if he had any information on the location of Cassandra. Cassandra Ayon, her car, and her cell phone have never been found.

The conviction was a result of an investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office led by Captain Kerry Kirn and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation led by Special Agent Adam Frederick. Clark County District Attorney Melissa Inlow thanks the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation and the Attorney General’s Office, for their hard work that brought justice for Cassandra and her family.

Assistant Attorney General Annie Jay and Clark County District Attorney Melissa Inlow tried the case, with assistance from DOJ paralegal Rochelle Ederer and Wisconsin State Intelligence Center Analysts Courtney Ripp and Mishele Wright.
