Grandmother of Lily Peters' Alleged Killer Pleads for Leniency

(Terry Bell, WRN) The grandmother of the boy accused of killing a ten-year-old girl in Chippewa Falls is asking the judge for leniency.
The 14-year-old’s grandmother wrote a letter to the judge in the case. She wants the eighth-grader charged as a juvenile. In Wisconsin, a charge of first-degree homicide automatically puts a case in adult court, but the woman says her grandson can get the mental health care he needs in a juvenile detention center.
Chippewa Falls police say he beat, strangled, then sexually assaulted ten-year-old Lily Peters in April. The suspect’s lawyer also filed a letter with the court, asking the district attorney and law enforcement to stop talking to media while the case is active. The next court date is June 24th.
