Greenwood School Board Prepares for Next School Year

The Greenwood School Board received an update on their School Operations Plan.

In regards to their plan, no changes were recommended. The Board also received information regarding the district-sponsored reading teacher licensing program. The program started June 13th with 11 participants.

The Board also approved the 2022-23 WIAA membership, reviewed the end-of-the-year AGR Report, and approved an extension of the MOU with Wisconsin Children’s Hospital to provide mental health counseling for students.

The Board also approved capital projects including roof replacement on the elementary school gym roof, school kitchen equipment, and UTV and trailer. They also received an update on summer cleaning and summer projects.

The Board also approved the 2021-22 Budget transfers, received 2022-23 Budget update, approved the 2022-23 School Breakfast and Lunch Prices (no increase in prices), approved the Pupil Transportation contract, and approved the purchase of a new firewall.

The Board also received the new NEOLA policy update 31-1 to review, received an update on the Wellness committee meeting and Wellness policy review, and received an update on district staffing.

The Board also approved the employment of the 2022-23 coaches and advisors and received a gift from the Chippewa Valley Builders Association to the Tech Ed program.

They also acknowledged the many sponsors of the Color Stampede and the donors for the portable pitching mound for the Willard baseball diamond. The Board also approved one volunteer and accepted the resignation of Jenny Hafermann, middle school teacher; Deb Mayenschein, food service worker; and Kent Hinker, varsity baseball coach.

The Board also accepted the retirement of Marie Eckdahl as the grade 2 teacher. They approved Amanda Smagacz, elementary special education teacher; Abigail Rowan, middle school teacher; and Taylor Hand, kindergarten teacher.

The Board also approved a field trip for FFA students to the FFA State Convention in Madison and the FFA Washington DC Leadership conference. The Board also heard the Committee Reports. Board member Mark Shain shared an update from CESA 10.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Joe Green reported on summer school, the near completion of the Outdoor Classroom, and the transition to District Administrator and 7-12 Principal.

Athletic Director/Dean of Students Jenny Mayenschein reported on end of the year activities; status of the West Gym bleacher project; athletic department fundraising will feature the district working a concession stand for 2 Packer games this season. A recap of the spring sport seasons was given and a preview of the fall season was also provided.

District Administrator Todd Felhofer reported on the 2022 Graduation Ceremony and thanked the school board, staff, students, parents and community for the privilege of serving the district the past 7 years.
