UW Health Doctor Reminds Older Residents to Be Aware of Continued COVID Threat

(Bob Hague, WRN) Older and at risk people need to stay aware of their COVID-19 risks and consider masking up in certain situations.
Dr. Jim Conway at UW Health stated, “Big sporting events indoors, where a lot of people are yelling and screaming with masks off, whether it's sporting events, or concerts and things like that, you know, those are the places that I would be a little bit more cautious and probably continue to recommend wearing masks for those populations that are at slightly higher risk."
"You know, it's very different being a 67 year old who's relatively healthy versus a 67 year old has got blood pressure and cardiac issues or diabetes or something like that. So I think it is a little bit more individualized. But I think, you know, being fully boosted is certainly going to protect people against severe disease."
Second booster doses are highly recommended for those individuals. As of Friday, COVID community levels were high in 11 Wisconsin Counties. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported 375 COVID patients, including 54 in the ICU.
