ANOTHER DELAY FOR JENSEN CASE??

Monday, May 22nd, 2006 -- 8:43 AM

An attorney representing Wayne Jensen is losing his law license and appears headed off the case ? just the latest in a long list of twists and major delays in a matter that began in July of 2003.

Wayne Jensen detonated a homemade bomb planted in the vehicle of his wife?s ex-husband as the man and his finance were traveling to Neillsville on Highway 73. Both were sent to the hospital.

Jensen is currently serving a prison sentence for his role in the bombing, but Clark County District Attorney Darwin Zwieg wants the case reopened, claiming the Neillsville-area man reneged on a plea deal.

There have been many, many major detours along the way. In April, Jensen?s attorney, Michael Mendelman, issued a last minute motion seeking more time to prepare for a hearing in which Judge Jon Counsell might decide if he?ll allow Zwieg to reopen the case and reinstate attempted homicide charges against Mr. Jensen.

Counsell reluctantly agreed and rescheduled the hearing for Tuesday.

But on Friday morning, Clark County District Attorney Darwin Zwieg received a phone call from Mr. Mandelman. Mandleman said his license is being suspended on June 21st and the Public Defender?s Office wanted to reassign the case to another attorney.

It remains unclear what this development will mean for the case, but it will likely mean another good-sized delay.
