NEILLSVILLE AREA RESIDENTS DONATE NEARLY 5,000 POUNDS TO FOOD DRIVE
Monday, May 15th, 2006 -- 10:12 AM
Organizers of Saturday?s Neillsville Post Office?s ?Letter Carriers? Food Drive? say they fell just short of their goal of collecting 5,005 pounds of non-perishable food.
?We have roughly 300 pounds to go,? Karlen explains. ?We hope everyone can pitch in and help us beat last year?s total.?
Acting Neillsville Postmaster Tammy Dunlop says they will be accepting donations this week.
?We are going to run it through Friday. Maybe someone forgot about it. Maybe someone was gone over the weekend,? Karlen says. Donations will be accepted at mailboxes, in the lobby, or in the dock in the back of the Post Office.
You may recall Neillsville had challenged Marshfield to a contest to see who could collect the most per patron, while the official tallies aren?t in yet, Dunlop feels pretty confident Neillsville will be victorious.
