Two People Injured in Bear Attack in Taylor County

Two people in Taylor County were injured Friday evening after being attacked by a bear.

According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, around 11pm they received a call of a bear attack at a home near Medford on Castle Road. The Department stated that a man and woman living at the home noticed a bear outside eating from their bird feeder.

They opened a window to yell at the bear, but the bear turned and charged, breaking through the window, and coming into the house. The man and woman fought the bear with kitchen knives before the husband was able to grab a firearm and shoot the animal.

The bear was an adult female and appeared to have a cub that ran off when she charged the house. The man and woman experienced multiple claw and bite marks, but they were treated and released form the hospital.

Their children were asleep in their bedrooms during the attack and were unharmed.
